The Slots
On his first day in Vegas, we went for a walk through the casino. How do you stop a toddler from racing to all the lights and sounds of the slots? Excuses, excuses, right? Ok. I know. You pick them up and take them out of the casino. But, it was hilarious watching him try to play the slots. I figured there wasn't too much emotional trauma going on in letting him have a go at the casino at this age. I doubt we'll be hitting gamblers anonymous anytime soon due to his adventures. But security was not so amused.
There is a photo of him trying to play the slots just before we were detected and booted from MGM casino. The other photo is Max trying to insert our winnings into the Triple Diamond slot game. Apologies for the clarity of the photos, they were taken with my iPhone.
We played the 25 cent Wheel of Fortune slots at the airport and turned $5 into $25 in about 2 minutes. We got to spin the "wheel" and it was great. Max was so excited. He was a tad impatient with how slow the machine was...his hands were much faster than the machine would play. When we submitted our ticket (they don't use quarters for payout, they just give you a ticket with your winnings to submit for cash) for cash out, the lady freaked out and said I could be in handcuffs and I must get Max out of the slot area immediately lest I be arrested and Max placed in foster care. Mind you the slot area is right in front of our departure gate...again...how do you keep them from being enticed by the lights and sounds?
The rest of our wait at the airport was me trying to contain the monkey, not so fun. The great news was that the luck of the Irish was with us on St. Patrick's day. Max slept for 2.5 hours of our 4+ hours flight back to NYC!
