We Are Here!
We left on Monday, arrived in Rome on Tuesday morning and visited the Vatican, the Colleseum and the Pantheon, ate a wonderful meal and then left for Damascus at 11 pm. We arrived in Damascus at 3:30 am Wed, Oct 22 (Vickie's bday). So far we are having an amazing time. The people are wonderful and so friendly. They keep trying to kiss Max on the cheek...he's a charmer in any country!
Max's Uncle Mo has family here and we are staying with them (along with Uncle Mo and Auntie Vickie who are here for a month) and it has been wonderful. Such gracious hosts. We went to lunch on a mountainside and ate stellar food and then we went to a very modern mall (I say modern as I had no idea how sophisticated this country would be). Mark bought 4 suits and several other items. They had a kids play area with all sorts of video games, bumper cars, ride-on toys, etc. Max was enthralled. And, I have to say that he has been on his best behavior. Our lunch was at least 2.5 hours and he was an angel.
If I can figure out how to download our pictures I will post a few before we leave.
Otherwise, see you next week!
