Aunt Lil's Picnic
Aunt Lil is my Father's Sister. She lives in a nursing home and has for several years. Luckily, the nursing home is very close to my Mother. She and my Dad used to visit Aunt Lil on a regular basis and now that my Pop is no longer with us, my Mom continues to visit Aunt Lil.
She has dementia and is almost 94 years old; Aunt Lil, not my Mother :-). It is my understanding she only recognizes my Mother these days due to the frequency of her visits. We went to a residents family picnic on Sunday. At first Aunt Lil was sleeping and so unresponsive...we were a tad worried. Max immediately asked to leave and Daddy took him on a tour and then outside playing. Max has a fear of death, so seeing her laying so still and unresponsive in bed must have been very scary.
My Mom, with her persistence, insisted Aunt Lil get a food tray as it was lunch and asked the staff to help her get her out of bed. They did, finally, and we ended up eating with Aunt Lil in the picnic area. Aunt Lil, just like Max, immediately tried to eat the sweets first! It was a tad humorous to watch!
She looks great in this photo, especially given how still she was when we arrived!
