New York Botanical Garden

We took Max to the NY Botanical Garden in early December. One of the features is a children's section with hands on activities where they can plant wheat grass and many other activities that due to the length of time from the visit and this post, I simply forgot...shame on me. Anyway, we participated in many of the activities and Max had an awesome time with only one minor tantrum. The main feature of the garden at this time was the Train Show, which I'll detail in another post.

Back to the tantrum, he had recently been potty trained and we took him to the bathroom...the public bathroom at the garden and he refused the timeline I set forth for our trip to the loo. He proceeded to flush the toilet several times, wrapped his arms around the PUBLIC toilet several times staring as the water flushed. Finally, I got him on the toilet and he decided to mess around with positions...front, back facing, sideways...etc. Toddlers get very creative in the bathroom. Anyway, I finally gave him his last warning and had to drag him out of the bathroom after he spent at least 5 minutes "washing" his hands. He cried so hard, he wanted to get back in the bathroom and find something else to play with....all I can say is EEEEK! All of those germs.

Back to the Botanical Garden. We had a really nice time, the gardens are sooo pretty. I can't wait to go back in the spring with all the flowers. Check out the picture of us in the gingerbread house and Max with the plant spider...the whole children's garden was filled with plant bugs like these...amazing!

So, you failed to mention if he actually WENT on the potty, or if his actions in the bathroom meant he didn't go and thus you had a new problem later. I was waiting for that towards the end of the post. LOL

The botanical gardens sounds like a great place!

Good point...yes, he urinated like a champ! The other day he was practicing elimination standing up...now I know why they have all those items geared toward aiming for boys!
