Happy Birthday Max!
Max had a fun filled day on his 3rd birthday, June 22, 2009. He woke up giddy and sweet at 6:40 am (this is sleeping in for Max...Mommy was giddy too!) and when I asked him how old he was today he responded "free" (three...still working on the "th" sound). When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday breakfast he said, "birthday party"...not birthday eggs as I had suggested. I tried to help him grasp that a birthday party was not food. But, I contributed to the confusion by then telling him we could bake his birthday cake instead of making breakfast.
We had a minor problem with the cake in that a portion of it deflated after I had pulled it out of the oven...I found out later that meant it wasn't completely done, whoops. I salvaged the rectangular, fallen cake by making it a round Elmo cake. Max loved it! And so did everyone else...they said it was the best cake ever. I baked it with frozen fruit and it was delish!
Max's day was big; with the pronouncement of "free", the cake baking, the start of T-ball camp (more details about that in another post), helping Mommy pick up Grandpa Ike's big present for Max at the mall, picking up Grandpa Honey at the hospital (he was discharged today...yeah!), purchasing a bunch of balloons for his party, the small birthday party (the big party coming in July), yummy cake, playing with his new toys, including a new fishing pole, tackle box and fish trap (to fish with his friends Lauren and Johnny). The night was capped off with a fire on the dock (a planned fire in a fire pit...no emergency services were needed), Max fishing with his new equipment and finally fireworks courtesy of Daddy and Don Mo (the fireworks picture does not adequately display the spectacular fireworks show, but it was the only photo of Max and fireworks).
Max finally passed out at 11:25 pm. What a day!!!
