Family
Last week-end, on our trip up north, we took Max to Avalanche Water Park at Boyne Mountain which is an indoor water park. Why, you may ask, did we take him to an indoor water park when it was August? Why, because we were in Michigan where the weather is as unpredictable as...I can't think of a metaphor, but you get the idea...it was rainy and cold!
Max was ecstatic to be at the water park, anything with water and this guy is happy. He played hard for about 4 hours straight. He slept well that night!
As I was putting him to bed that night I asked him what was his favorite part of the day. I was fully expecting him to say water park or water, or water slide or something with the word water in it Mind you, this question came only about an hour after leaving the water park so it was definitely fresh in his mind and he still had the faint chlorine smell in his hair, despite a good shower. Instead of any mention of water he surprised me with what I felt was a pretty deep statement. When asked what was his favorite part of the day, he replied, "Grandpa Ike, Bebe, Vivian and Vickie". His favorite part of his day was spending time with his family...I melted. This guy loves his two Grandma's (Bebe and Grandma Honey--in fact he was quite bummed his Grandma Honey was not making the up north trip with us), his Grandpa Ike (and he still regularly comments on Grandpa Honey being in Heaven), his aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. He really, truly enjoys family and family time. Kind of makes me melt.
