Bonnie Springs Ranch
During our time in Las Vegas last week, I took Max to an "old town". Bonnie Springs Ranch in the heart of Red Rock Canyon, according to their website...and it certainly appeared to be... the scenery was stunning.
This old town ranch had a...you guessed...an old town and also a petting zoo, horseback riding, restaurant, railroad and various other entertaining features. We spent an afternoon here enjoying ourselves.
Max playing in the dirt...colors and scenery...amazing!

Sizing up the hanging station...or whatever it was called back then. They actually had a shoot-out and hanging re-enactment that was supposed to be entertaining...I chose to "miss" that feature as not sure how appropriate that could be for a 4 year old.
The petting zoo. He fed a Llama and it was hilarious...but I couldn't take pictures as I had to stay near to ensure he was ok. Animals and kids together are great, but you (or I, at least) can never be too certain it is always safe. Here he is tip-toeing past a sleeping pig.
Max and the non-running train...at least while we were there. Evidently it helps transport folks from the parking lot to the entrance in the busier months.
A wild burro, which signs on the way in and out of the Red Rock Canyon area ask you to "watch" out for...wild burros and wild horses. I stopped the car and this one poked its head through my window. Max and I were very entertained by this sight. Given my hesitation regarding animals and kids...in hindsight I probably shouldn't have allowed the burro so close...but I justified it to myself that the burro was poking his head into my window and even though the back window was open for Max to see...Max was on the other side of the car so the burro could not get to Max. His teeth looked really big...I was a tad concerned he might bite me...luckily no such mishap...whew!
