Cooking Class
Max had his cooking class today. The class is a very simple format. The kids show up with their parents or caregivers and sit at a table with aprons and make a three course (appetizer, entree and dessert) meal during each class. The meal is packaged in containers and the kids get to color a paper bag to take it home.
Today we "visited" France and made a French salad (I'm sure there is a specific name and I forgot it...it had romaine, potatoes, haricot vert, roasted red peppers, tomatoes and fava beans with a mustard, garlic, vinegar, oil, salt and pepper dressing), Croque Monsiuer (not sure if I spelled that right?! Ham and cheese sandwich that is toasted via a egg, flour mixture basted on top and bottom of bread. But, they substituted turkey for ham) and Apple Tartane (again on spelling. Apples and filo pastry).
The kids are supposed to make the food with help of parents. Max is interested in this class, but he is mostly interested in eating every single item they give him as it arrives. He even tried to suck the mustard, mayo, vinegar and oil out of there respective bowls as they arrived. He had everything all over his face.
The class is fun and he enjoys it and seems to be eating a larger variety of vegetables based upon trying everything they place in front of him...which is great and part of what I hoped to accomplish participating in the class.
Today Mark is flying to SFO and Max packed everything up for Mark to carry on the plane for his lunch. He even colored his bag special for Daddy!
The pictures show him walking home carrying the bag all by himself. He wouldn't let me help as he wanted to get it to Mark on his own. Very adorable as the bag was a bit heavy and it kept dragging and he had to lift it really high to keep it from dragging.
Mark loved his meal from Max!
